Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Northern Catalpa · About five minutes

Make room around one thing.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Arrive with space

Choose stable, permitted ground away from damaged limbs. Sit or stand comfortably; a distant view is enough.

  2. Notice one broad shape

Look at a leaf, flower cluster, or opening in the crown. If foliage is absent, choose a branch. Let your breath remain ordinary.

  3. Include what surrounds it

Move attention from your detail to the nearby open space, then back again. Keep your head comfortable rather than reaching upward.

  4. Offer one manageable thing

Choose one small act of generosity and leave room for rest around it. Widen your attention before returning to your day.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What changed when you left room around your attention?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
