Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Eastern Redcedar · About five minutes

A steady point. A little shelter.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Choose your viewing place

Sit or stand with your usual supports on stable, permitted ground, clear of damaged branches. Keep foliage untouched; observing at a distance is welcome.

  2. Find a steady detail

Choose one patch of foliage or bark. Let your breathing stay natural while you return to that detail whenever attention wanders.

  3. Notice the shelter

Widen your view to the spaces between branches. Listen to the surroundings without approaching nests or trying to attract wildlife.

  4. Carry support forward

Name one support already present in your life and one small way to care for it. Return to the whole scene and finish at your own pace.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What supports your constancy without making you rigid?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
