Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Eastern Cottonwood · About five minutes

Let movement happen. Find your place.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Choose stable ground

Sit or stand with your normal supports on a permitted path, clear of river edges and damaged branches. Postpone the practice in strong winds or storms.

  2. Watch a small movement

Notice a leaf or shadow shifting without tracking it with your whole body. If the air is still, watch the light or simply observe a leaf.

  3. Return to a steady point

Bring attention to a patch of trunk, then include the moving scene again. Let your breathing continue naturally.

  4. Name one response

Acknowledge a change in your day and choose one practical response. Finish by noticing the ground and surroundings before moving on.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What helped you stay present while the scene changed?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
