Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Boxelder · About five minutes

Look again. Make room for difference.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Observe from a safe place

Sit or stand comfortably on permitted, stable ground away from damaged branches. Keep unfamiliar plants untouched. A view from a path is sufficient.

  2. Separate leaf from leaflet

If visible, follow a whole leaf from its attachment toward its leaflets. If foliage is absent or distant, observe a twig junction instead. Do not strain to identify every part.

  3. Notice your expectation

Describe what you see before adding a name. Notice whether it differs from what you expected. Let your breathing continue naturally while you look again.

  4. Try a flexible next step

Bring a familiar task to mind. Choose one small change to try, without demanding a result. Return to the tree and finish when ready.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What changed when you allowed a familiar thing to look different?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
