Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Swamp White Oak · About five minutes

Keep an intention. Adjust the approach.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Choose firm ground

Use a permitted path or seat with a comfortable view. Remain clear of unstable ground and damaged branches. Sitting, standing, or observing at a distance are equally welcome.

  2. Look for contrast

Notice one light and one dark area of foliage or bark. If a leaf turns naturally, watch its two surfaces. There is no need to pick or turn a living leaf.

  3. Hold a wider view

Name what you can actually see, then notice what remains hidden. Let your breathing stay ordinary. Allow uncertainty without rushing to complete the picture.

  4. Make one adjustment

Name an intention you value and a small change that could support it today. Return to the wider tree and finish at your own pace.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What could stay steady while your approach changes?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
