Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Red Oak · About five minutes

Steady center. Open branches.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Settle into support

Choose firm ground and a permitted viewpoint away from hazardous branches. Sit or stand with your usual supports and notice the surface beneath you.

  2. Follow one branch

Let your eyes travel from the trunk along one visible branch. Stop wherever the view is comfortable; there is no need to crane your neck.

  3. Notice the openings

Look at a patch of sky or light between branches. Let your attention include both the branch and the space beside it, with natural breathing.

  4. Choose room to grow

Ask where steadiness would help your day and where more room would help. Choose one modest action, then allow the visit to end.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

Where do you need support, and where do you need space?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
