Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Flowering Dogwood · About five minutes

A small center. A fresh beginning.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Find your comfortable place

Sit or stand with your usual supports on stable, permitted ground outside the root area. No touching or moving a branch is needed.

  2. Look for a small center

If flowers are visible, notice their center within the bracts. In another season, choose a leaf vein, bud, or bark pattern.

  3. Let the detail be enough

Stay with what you can comfortably see. Let your breath be ordinary and return gently when thoughts pull attention elsewhere.

  4. Begin with one small act

Choose a small beginning for your day, or simply keep one observation. Widen your view and leave the tree undisturbed.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What became visible when you looked beyond the first impression?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
