Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

American Basswood · About five minutes

Receive. Notice. Offer.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Settle at an easy distance

Choose stable, permitted ground. Sit or stand with your usual supports. Give flower-visiting insects space and observe from farther away if that is more comfortable.

  2. Widen your attention

Notice the tree and then its surroundings: light, shade, nearby plants, or movement. Listen if useful; seeing alone is enough, and quiet is welcome too.

  3. Recognize what you receive

Bring one source of support to mind. Name it simply. Allow yourself a moment to appreciate receiving without immediately needing to repay it.

  4. Choose a fitting offer

Think of one manageable act of care or generosity. Choose something within your capacity, then leave the tree and surrounding life undisturbed.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What connection could you nourish with one small, sustainable act?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
